TeleType Releases Commercial Truckers GPS with Hazmat RoutingTeleType now offers a touch-screen portable GPS designed for commercial truck drivers. The TeleType GPS is based on familiar portable navigation software, but takes into account commercial truck restrictions such as bridge heights and clearances, load limits, one-way road designations, left-hand and dangerous turn restrictions, and allowances. The product also supports 10 levels of Hazmat routing and allows truck drivers the ability to enter the size and weight of their vehicle to navigate based on their vehicle’s characteristics. For example, a typical set of restrictions for a semi-trailer could be entered as 13’6” height, 80,000 lb weight, 53’ length, and 96” width. Pre-installed U.S. and Canada maps let you use the system right out of the box. Voice directions include street names in English or Spanish. The commercial drivers’ GPS is available in two screen sizes, 3.5” and 7” diagonal. The unit also features an MP3 and video player and more than 12 million points of interest. Drivers can also add an unlimited number of their own points for future reference.
