Chevron Corp. recently debuted a new diesel fuel with an organic detergent additive for a pilot program in the Sacramento area.

The new fuel - diesel with Techron D - has an additive that helps keep fuel injectors clean.

The San Ramon company developed the fuel in response to the growing market for light-duty diesel vehicles, including sports cars, sedans and SUVs, that it is anticipates will be almost 15 percent of the new-car market by 2015.

Forty-eight Chevron stations in Greater Sacramento will have the new fuel.
